Skills shortage hits technology sectors particularly hard
114 days – that's how long it currently takes to find a technician.
In a recent article, Business Insider (August 22, 2024) highlights the tense situation on the labor market for technical professions. The article refers to new figures from the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and shows that
in the field of electrical engineering, it takes an average of 114 days to find a suitable specialist—a negative record.
Energy technology (112 days) and mechanical and industrial engineering (97 days) are also severely affected.
The forecast? The situation will continue to worsen until 2040.
This is an enormous challenge for companies in the energy, mobility, and retail sectors – but also a clear call to action:
Automation, digitalization, and smart use of resources will become decisive factors for success.
